Ever wonder why its called the Emerald Coast?

What’s amazing is that the Destin Pass is what most folks believe is the reason for the color that is so unique to this area. The Pass acts as a filter so the water is more clear and, subsequently, emerald in color.

Even better, you get to play in that emerald water! On any given day you can look out on the water and see an array of people taking advantage of the water.

So, as a little experiment, I did just that. I went out and took photos from one location (Marlar Bridge) for about five minutes and this is what I got:

That’s right, in just five minutes from one spot I saw people on paddle boats, jet skis, boats and on the beach. Where else can you see all that?

Welcome to the Emerald Coast.
